EDB Postgres Backup and Recovery Tool 2.2
WHAT’S NEW
This announcement is notifying you of a new software release: EDB Postgres Backup and Recovery ToolⓇ 2.2 (BART 2.2)
EDB Backup and Recovery facilitates and automates complete hot physical backups of your PostgreSQL or EDB Postgres Advanced Server database. It is a centralized server that can connect to and backup multiple local or remote Postgres databases.
In previous releases, EDB introduced capabilities such as block-level incremental backup, policy enforced management and naming of the backup files, compressed storage, and low disk space alerts.
Backup and Recovery 2.2 adds several key performance enhancements:

Full backups can now be taken using multiple, parallel worker threads, thus reducing the backup time.

Restoring incremental backups can now be done with parallel worker processes.

Supports parallel compression for full backup so the overall backup time is reduced significantly.

BART no longer requires the use of the PostgreSQL pg_basebackup utility program to take full base backups from database servers with the exception of standby servers. Incremental backups cannot be taken from standby servers.
In addition, BART 2.2 addresses potential data corruptions associated with the incremental backup feature in BART 2.0 and BART 2.1. If you are currently running BART 2.0 or BART 2.1 EDB strongly advises you to update to BART 2.2 as soon as possible. After upgrading, a restart of the bart-scanner process should be performed, and a new full backup should be taken.

NOTE:
EDB Backup and Recovery Tool 2.2 supports Postgres database server versions 9.5 and later. Postgres database server versions 9.4 or earlier are not supported by BART 2.2
Do not perform an upgrade to BART 2.2 unless you are on database server version 9.5 or later.
