Technical UpdateEDB Postgres Failover Manager 3.5
WHAT’S NEW
This update is notifying you of a new software release, EDB Postgres Failover Manager (EFM) version 3.5. Failover Manager provides high availability infrastructure for EDB Postgres clusters. Failover Manager monitors the members of a Postgres cluster, identifies and verifies database failures quickly and reliably, and if needed promotes a standby node to become the cluster master and issues alerts.
Highlights of this release include:
- Support for JDK 11 - Failover Manager requires only JDK 8 or higher, but now will run with version 11.
- Failover Manager agents will retry connections after starting/restarting a database - A database (re)start can return successfully before the database is ready to accept connections. Failover Manager will now attempt to reconnect in this case, up to a time determined by a new property.
- New property to set the from address for notifications - Failover Manager can now use customized email addresses for notifications sent to the user.
- New application name property - Failover Manager can now update the application name in the recovery.conf file copied to a master when it becomes a standby during switchover.
- New option for switchover behavior - The -noscripts option can be used during switchover to turn off fencing and post-promotion scripts run on the promoting standby.
- Promotable standby property no longer ignored after cluster separation and rejoins. (827916, 818120)
- Failover Manager now handles quoted host name in recovery.conf files in primary_conninfo. (855006)
- Improvements to work with versions of arping on Debian. (844793)
