 EDB Postgres Failover Manager 3.4

WHAT’S NEW
This update is notifying you of a new software release, EDB Postgres Failover Manager (EFM) version 3.4. Failover Manager provides high availability infrastructure for EDB Postgres clusters. Failover Manager monitors the members of a Postgres cluster, identifies and verifies database failures quickly and reliably, and if needed promotes a standby node to become the cluster master and issues alerts.
 
Highlights of this release include:
  • New property to treat all master shutdowns as potential failures - This helps ensure that accidental shutdowns result in a failover.
  • Retry VIP checks during promotion - This feature helps make sure failover still happens even if an isolated master does not release the VIP before the rest of the cluster promotes.
  • Exit notifications now at WARNING level - All agent exit notifications, including failures to start, are now sent with WARNING level instead of INFO.
Defects corrected in this update:
  • Add retry for standby that can reach VIP before promoting. (776029)
  • Enable failover for graceful master shutdown (735146)
  • EFM should send WARNING notification when agent fails to start (809122)
