TECHNICAL UPDATEEDB Postgres Backup and Recovery Tool 2.5
WHAT’S NEW
This announcement is notifying you of a new software release: EDB Postgres Backup and Recovery Tool 2.5
EDB Backup and Recovery facilitates and automates complete hot physical backups of your PostgreSQL or EDB Postgres Advanced Server database. It is a centralized server that can connect to and backup multiple local or remote Postgres databases.
In previous releases, EDB introduced capabilities such as block-level incremental backup, policy enforced management and naming of the backup files, compressed storage, and low disk space alerts.
Highlights of this release includes:
- Support for PostgreSQL 12 and EDB Postgres Advanced Server version 12
- BART Reference Guide
A new Reference guide, which enables users to refer to BART subcommands and examples quickly. For details, please see the EDB Postgres Backup and Recovery Reference Guide available at: https://www.enterprisedb.com/edb-docs
Defects corrected in this update:
- Fix ‘bart check-config’ to accept archive_mode=’always’, and to not check bart-scanner when incremental backups are disabled. (Support Ticket #876908, BART-456, BART-465)
- Correctly restore backups taken with xlog_method = stream (Support Ticket #877507, BART-455)
- Avoid writing to bart-auto.log when another log file has been specified (Support Ticket #830541, BART-475)
- Escape IPv6 hostnames properly. (Support Ticket #896493, BART-487)
- Fix bart-scanner to properly handle ALTER TABLE .. SET TABLESPACE operations, avoiding an internal error. (Support Ticket #917388, BART-510)
- Avoid relying on the Linux system sendfile(), which is unreliable on some versions of the Linux kernel. (Support Ticket #912623, BART-509)
- Fix possible misbehavior when tablespaces are created or dropped during a full backup. (BART-415)
This announcement is for EDB customers who are using:
- EDB Backup and Recovery Tool v2.x
