TECHNICAL UPDATE
EDB Postgres Failover Manager 3.7

WHAT’S NEW
This update is notifying you of a new software release, EDB Postgres Failover Manager (EFM) version 3.7. Failover Manager provides high availability infrastructure for EDB Postgres clusters. Failover Manager monitors the members of a Postgres cluster, identifies and verifies database failures quickly and reliably, and if needed promotes a standby node to become the cluster master and issues alerts.

Highlights of this release include:

    •    EDB Postgres Advanced Server and PostgreSQL v12 support - EFM 3.7 now supports database version 12 in the default case. The non-sudo EFM use case is not supported with v12 yet.

Defects corrected in this update:

    •    Handle WAL log backup removal on standbys during promotion for database version 9.X.

Note: The “pg_read_all_settings” role is required for the “db.user” user set in the <cluster>.properties file if using database version 12. This role can be granted with:

GRANT pg_read_all_settings to <user>;

More information on granting roles is here:
https://www.postgresql.org/docs/12/default-roles.html
