WHAT’S NEW
This is to update you about the release of Migration Toolkit 53.0.2. The tool migrates tables, views, procedures, functions, packages, and other database objects and data from SQL Server, Sybase, Oracle, and MySQL to Postgres and EDB Postgres Advanced Server.
Highlights of this release include:
- Debian 10 support:
Migration Toolkit now supports Debian version 10.x. For a complete list of supported platforms, see Supported Operating Systems and Database Versions.
- Use Non-super user for migration:
Starting this release, you can use a non-super credential while migrating to EDB Postgres Advanced Server or PostgreSQL. For more information, see the “Defining an Advanced Server URL and Defining a PostgreSQL URL documentation.”

Known issues
The following is the known issue:
- Partition Tables Migration to EDB Postgres Advanced Server v9.6
Currently, migration of the partition tables to EDB Postgres Advanced Server v9.6 is failing. The issue will be fixed in one of the future releases

This announcement is for EDB customers who are using – or are interested in – Migration Toolkit 53.0.2 and have a database subscription purchased for:
- EDB Postgres Advanced Server 12, 11,10, 9.6, 9.5
- PostgreSQL 12, 11,10, 9.6, 9.5
HOW TO GET THE SOFTWARE
You can use an RPM package or StackBuilder Plus to install Migration Toolkit. StackBuilder Plus is distributed with both Advanced Server and PostgreSQL with a one-click installer, available at EDB.
Before installing Migration Toolkit, you must first install Java version 1.7.0 or later. Free downloads of Java installers and installation instructions are available at http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp.
- RPM package: For more information on installing MTK through RPMs, see Using an RPM Package to Install Migration Toolkit.
- StackBuilder Plus
Perform the following steps to update your Migration Toolkit for Postgres Plus Advanced Server. It is recommended that you back up your files before performing the upgrade.

- Right-click on the System tray icon (PostgreSQL Elephant) and select Install Components. StackBuilder Plus will start, and the available updates are displayed in bold in the component selection screen.
OR
Run StackBuilder Plus directly from the Application menu. The update will automatically be selected and displayed in bold. - Expand the Add-ons, tools, and utilities node of the tree control, and check the box next to EDB Migration Toolkit.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Next and select the download directory (where the update will be downloaded).
- The installation program will start once the download is complete.
Note: The data directory will not be affected by this upgrade.

HOW TO RESTORE A PREVIOUS VERSION
To restore to the previous version, run the last installer version. This will restore the migration toolkit to the previously installed version.
In case the previous version is deleted, you can download the installer from EDB.
Note: For downloading the Windows installer via Stackbuilder, you must first download the EDB Postgres Advancer Server Windows installer.
