WHAT’S NEW
This update is notifying you of the new release of EDB Pgpool-II 4.2.1. Pgpool-II acts as a middleman between client applications and a PostgreSQL database server. Using Pgpool-II can add the following benefits to your application connection infrastructure:
- Transparent rerouting and load balancing of Read Only transactions to Standby database servers
- Reuse connections to prevent reconnects
- Reduce Postgres connections by queuing stale connections
Highlights of this release include:
- Merge with Pgpool-II 4.2.1, which includes:
- Enhancements for easier configuration and administration
- Easier log management
- Collect disconnection information
- Easier multiple passwords registration
- Added new clustering mode “snapshot_ isolation_mode” to guarantee data modifications to multiple PostgreSQL with read consistency
- Supports LDAP authentication between clients and Pgpool-II
- Supports SSL Certificate Revocation List (CRL) and passphrase command
- Added new commands - SHOW POOL_HEALTH_CHECK_STATS and pcp_health_check_stats
- Added new command - SHOW POOL_BACKEND_STATS
- Added new PCP commands to reload configuration - pcp_reload_config
- Option to omit from write_function_list and read_only_function_list using system catalog information
- Simplified Watchdog configuration and added wd_cli utility for Watchdog management
- Import PostgreSQL 13's SQL parser
- EDB Pgpool-II 4.2.1 is supported to be used with EDB Postgres Advanced Server and PostgreSQL versions 9.6 - 13
