WHAT’S NEW
The EDB open source portfolio is now generally available for compatibility with PostgreSQL 16.0 on all supported platforms. EDB chooses to begin supporting new major versions of PostgreSQL around the same time as community release and we have ensured it is supported for all of our open source supported extensions/tools.
With this release, EDB continues to lead as the only worldwide company to deliver innovative and low cost open-source-derived database solutions with commercial quality, ease of use, compatibility, scalability, and performance for small or large-scale enterprises. EDB supports a variety of deployments to Linux, Windows, or Kubernetes, both self-supported and as a managed service.
This release announcement comes ahead of the EDB Postgres Portfolio Release in November, which will include EDB Postgres Extended (PGE) Server and EDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS) 16.1.
Key highlights of this release include:
- PostgreSQL 16.0 - Key changes and enhancements in PostgreSQL 16 include significant improvements to parallel processing, resulting in faster queries, advances to logical replication enabling complex architectures, and improved privilege administration changes.
- Open Source community extensions and EDB supported open source extensions for use with PostgreSQL 16
- EDB Postgres for Kubernetes and CloudNativePG - EDB’s Kubernetes offerings allow PostgreSQL 16.0 to be deployed with high availability and optional connection pooling
- Coming on October 12! BigAnimal - EDB’s fully-managed Postgres offering allows single node and high availability clusters with PostgreSQL 16.0
