WHAT’S NEW

This announcement is notifying you of new software releases of the EDB Foreign Data Wrappers for Hadoop, MongoDB, and MySQL. These foreign Data Wrappers allow EDB Postgres Advanced Server to connect to Hadoop, MongoDB, and MySQL servers enabling you to view, join and manage data holistically.

Highlights of this release include:

Hadoop FDW 2.2.0

Type

Highlights

New Feature

Push down aggregates to remote HDFS servers.

Push aggregates to the remote HDFS server instead of fetching all of the rows and aggregating them locally.  This gives a performance boost for cases where aggregates can be pushed down.

Enhancement

Add support for NUMERIC data type.

For further information including bug fixes or changes, please refer to the Release Notes

MongoDB FDW 5.4.0

Type

Highlights

New Feature

Push down aggregates to remote MongoDB servers.

Push aggregates to the remote MongoDB server instead of fetching all of the rows and aggregating them locally.  This gives a very good performance boost for the cases where aggregates can be pushed down.

Enhancement

Add a new server option use_remote_estimate to estimate the rows.

For further information including bug fixes or changes, please refer to the Release Notes

MySQL FDW 2.8.0

Type

Highlights

New Feature

Push down ORDER BY to remote MySQL servers.

When possible, considers a path that adds the ORDER BY clause to the remote SQL to get an ordered result set from the foreign server.  This helps with  an efficient merge join.

New Feature

Push down LIMIT/OFFSET to remote MySQL servers.
Wherever applicable, perform LIMIT and OFFSET operations on the remote server.  This reduces network traffic between local PostgreSQL and remote MySQL servers.

Enhancement

Add character_set option. Users can now set it to an appropriate value per MySQL database.

Enhancement

Add sql_mode option. MySQL server can operate in different SQL modes, this option allows it to match that up.
