WHAT’S NEW

This update is notifying you of a new software release of Barman 3.0.0. This is the first release of Barman to follow semantic versioning and includes breaking changes that should only affect a small number of users and already unsupported versions of PostgreSQL.

Backup and Recovery Manager (or Barman) is an open-source administration tool for remote backups and disaster recovery of PostgreSQL servers in business-critical environments. It relies on PostgreSQL’s robust and reliable Point-In-Time Recovery technology, allowing DBAs to remotely manage a complete catalog of backups and the recovery phase of multiple remote servers – all from one location. Barman is distributed under GNU GPL 3 and maintained by EDB.

For customers who view their Barman server on their PEM dashboard, please note that the pg-backup-api will require a minor upgrade to work with the updated metadata in Barman 3.0.0, as documented in the release notes linked below.

Highlights of these releases include:
  • Support for base backup compression when using the postgres backup_method.
