WHAT’S NEW

This update is notifying you of the EDB Q2 Software Portfolio updates. Please also see our EDB Postgres AI Q2 Release Highlights blog.

EDB Postgres AI - Platform

Hybrid data estate management using the EDB Postgres AI agent.

  • Customers now have visibility of their self-managed Postgres databases, Amazon RDS Postgres databases, and EDB Postgres AI Cloud Service database clusters from a “single pane of glass” using the EDB Postgres AI Console. Read the docs to get started.

EDB Postgres AI - Analytics and AI

EDB Postgres AI extends Postgres to analytical and AI workloads.

  • Customers can now launch Postgres Lakehouse nodes using the EDB Postgres AI Cloud Service (formerly EDB BigAnimal) to get results of analytical (OLAP) queries 30x faster than from typical transactional Postgres. Read the docs to get started.
  • Customers can now access a tech preview of the new EDB pgai extension, which builds on top of Postgres vector data support to simplify and accelerate the creation of AI apps by integrating popular LLMs in Postgres directly. This enables Postgres to manage, process, search and retrieve AI data such as text documents or images.

EDB Postgres AI - Database Server

EDB Oracle Migration Tools simplify Postgres database modernization.

  • Migration Portal users can use a new Migration AI Copilot, an AI-driven chat interface, to get suggestions for resolving schema compatibility issues and answers to other database migration related questions. Read the docs to get started.
  • Migration Toolkit users can now exclude objects from a migration for additional object types using new command line options.
  • Migration Toolkit users can avoid restarting a data migration in the event of a lost connection with new automated retry capabilities. Due to this automation, new configuration options have also been added to support lost connections during snapshot replication using EDB Postgres Replication Server.
  • Migration Toolkit users can now migrate PostgreSQL PROCEDURE objects to Postgres-based target databases.
  • Debian users who need to prepare for the June Debian 10 EOL and plan to upgrade their x86 based systems to Debian 12, now have the ability to install and run LiveCompare on those systems.

EDB Postgres® Distributed 5.5 Release Enhancements

  • PGD customers can now route read queries to a separate endpoint, increasing client application performance for read-heavy workloads.
  • Customers can now use DETACH PARTITION CONCURRENTLY, which allows a partition to be detached without acquiring AccessExclusiveLock on the parent table. This means that while the DETACH operation is underway, other SELECT queries can still be executed on the parent table. This is available with database versions 14+.

New EDB extension support

  • EDB added support for wal2json, an output plugin for logical decoding, and system_stats, for monitoring key metrics, such as CPU and memory usage, disk I/O, and network activity, directly through standard SQL queries.

JDBC Connectors

  • EDB JDBC Connectors can now be retrieved from Maven Central, simplifying the Java integration process to EPAS and EDB Postgres Extended.

EDB Failover Manager

  • Failover Manager now utilizes the PostgreSQL JDBC Driver version 42.7.2.
  • This release addressed a rare issue of a thread being interrupted while stopping the primary database during a switchover [Support ticket: #102362], and resolved an issue with improper property settings that could prevent the startup process from exiting.

EDB Trusted Postgres Architect

  • TPA customers can now specify the number of locations and nodes per location, as well as the ability to add a witness-only or disaster recovery location directly from the Command Line.
  • Debian users who need to prepare for the June Debian 10 EOL and plan to upgrade their x86 based systems to Debian 12, now have the ability to install and run TPA on those systems.

Postgres Enterprise Manager

  • PEM customers can now share data with colleagues through improved reporting options, enable probes when an agent is registered, use FQDN instead of hostname, monitor replication slot status with new probes, download reports from Capacity Manager, and receive detailed error messages in email notifications of failed jobs.
