WHAT’S NEW

This is to update you about the release of Migration Toolkit 55.7.0 and Replication Server version 7.7.0.

Migration Toolkit 55.7.0

Migration Toolkit migrates data, tables, views, procedures, functions, packages, and other database objects from Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, and Sybase to EDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS) and PostgreSQL.

Highlights of this release include the following:

  • Improved the performance of table-level parallel loading of many tables by updating the operation to fetch all the constraints in a single network round trip. [Support ticket #97379]
  • The Migration Toolkit is now certified to work with all the BigAnimal supported cluster types including the distributed high availability clusters.
  • Fixed an issue where user-created triggers on the target PostgreSQL or EDB Postgres Advanced Server databases were getting disabled during the data migration phase. [Support ticket #97637]
  • Other bug fixes as noted in the Migration Toolkit 55.7.0 release notes documentation.

Note that Linux packages and Windows installers are currently available for Migration Toolkit 55.7.0. However, as of this release announcement, a MacOS installer is not yet available. A follow-on technical alert will be posted on the EDB support knowledge base when the MacOS installer becomes available.

Replication Server 7.7.0

Replication Server provides a solution for synchronizing data from or to non-Postgres databases to or from Postgres databases, as well as, between Postgres databases.

Highlights of this release include the following:

  • Implemented CPU and memory usage related optimizations specifically applicable for publications with a large number of tables. [Support ticket #91588 #94343]
  • EDB Postgres Replication Server is now certified to use EDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) v5.3.0 as a publishing database for trigger mode and as a subscription database for both trigger and wal modes.
  • EDB Replication Server is now certified for use on Windows Server 2022.
  • Multiple bug fixes as noted in the Replication Server 7.7.0 release notes documentation.

Replication Server 6.2 End-of-Support Reminder

As of Jun 1, 2023 Replication Server 6.2 is no longer supported. If you have not already done so, please upgrade to Replication Server 7 in order to ensure that your usage of Replication Server is supported.  Version 7.x  provides a non-breaking upgrade path for existing 6.2.x  based cluster deployments.  Note, however, it is strongly recommended that the upgrade be verified in a staging or non-production environment before applying the upgrade in a production environment.  Please consult the release notes and the Upgrading Replication Server section documentation in the Replication Server documentation for more information and instructions.
