WHAT’S NEW
This update is to announce the maintenance release of EDB Postgres Distributed versions 5.4.0
EDB Postgres Distributed (PGD) provides best-in-class distributed high availability for Postgres applications, which gives you the most robust disaster recovery solution. You get multi-region, always-on architectures, with the ability to have geo-distributed data, meet data sovereignty requirements and improve application performance by housing data closest to where you need it. Plus, you can confidently test new software versions for compatibility and performance with actual data - but without impacting users as you test and then move applications.
Highlights of this 5.4.0 release include improvements to:
- group commit, aiming to optimize performance by minimizing the effect of a node’s downtime and simplifying overall operating of PGD clusters
- apply_delay, enabling the creation of a delayed read-only replica for additional options for disaster recovery and to mitigate the impact of human error such as accidental DROP table statements
For more detailed information on all enhancements and fixes included in the release, please refer to the EDB Postgres Distributed Release Notes in EDB documentation.
The following EDB Postgres Distributed related components were also released recently:
- Trusted Postgres Architect (TPA) 23.29
- PostgreSQL 16.2, 15.6, 14.11, 13.14, 12.18
- EDB Postgres Advanced Server (EPAS) 16.2.0, 15.6.0 , 14.11.0, 13.14.20, 12.18.23
- EDB Postgres Extended Server (PGE) 16.2.0, 15.6.0
EDB Postgres Distributed 5.4.0 requires using at least 14.10.x, 15.4.x, or 16.1.x minor versions of EPAS and PGE and will pull these in automatically during an 5.x upgrade.
